Makeover

Okay so I really don't like how my blog looks. Some of the blogs I follow are so beautifully done. I have no experience with HTML. I'm lost with it.

I'm wondering if any of you have any recommendations for sites that I can get some designs from or someone to contact who would design a nice one for me? I would appreciate your help!!

In other news, man what a snow storm we got yesterday! On Sunday I was sitting in a lawn chair watching Mr.Squish rake the yard & clean up the gardens and today there's about 20cm of snow on the ground and it's darn cold out.

Of course our snowblower broke so we had to go old school and shovel. There was a HUGE snowdrift in the middle of our driveway when I got home from work. I was driving the little Kia, not the truck, and I guess I kind of underestimated the size of the snow drift and tried to drive the car over it. (I'm laughing now because it seems so ridiculous NOW). Naturally, the car got stuck, I mean really stuck. I was sitting there thinking, okay...Mr Squish is going to be ticked...I'll call my Dad and he'll help me get it out before Mr Squish gets home in 3 hours. Just as I was getting out of the car to asses the level of "stuckness" Mr Squish pulls the truck in behind me. BUSTED! Yup, weather was so bad they closed his work and he left. Rather then be angry, he laughed at me...until he had to push and the car got more stuck...then he wasn't laughing anymore. BUT! I give him props because he did get it unstuck and all was well. He's a good man.

Let me tell you though, I didn't realize how out of shape I truly am until I "helped" shovel the drive way & sidewalks. Yikes! I can totally see why they tell people over 60 or people with health issues NOT to shovel and get someone else to do it. It's tough work! I've been blessed that Mr. Squish usually handles all that for us but with the snowblower broken, and the large amount of snow I couldn't just sit all cozy inside while he worked his sexy butt off. I wasn't a whole lot of help but I like to think I helped a little lol

Reflections

Mr. Squish and I had an awesome time at the wedding on Saturday. It was absolutely beautiful. The food was great and boy did I dance. My body aches from the dancing, just a reminder of how badly I need to get back to the gym. Every time I stand after sitting for awhile my calf muscles scream “WHY!?” lol
Here’s a picture of Mr. Squish & I at the wedding.

I love weddings. I’m definitely one of those people who cry at weddings; almost always during the vows and usually again during a really sweet speech. For me, it’s always the Father/Daughter speeches that make me tear up. I’m such a Daddy’s Girl. I barely held it together at my own wedding lol In fact, if I remember correctly both Mr. Squish & I were crying before we even got to the vows. I remember our Reverend commenting before he began how we were both already crying and he hadn’t even started yet.

It’s been a year and six months since our wedding (this past Saturday) and It seems like it was years ago most days. We’re so comfortable with each other that I tend to forget we’ve only been together for almost 5 years and married for less than 2 years. Other days I can remember our wedding day and the first day I met Mr. Squish like it was yesterday. I hope I have these memories when we’re 90 years old rocking in rocking chairs on our front porch watching our great great grand children play.

Sunday was pretty uneventful. I admit I was quite hung over. Open bar…nothing good ever comes from that except a good hangover lol We got a lot of the yard work done. Now that the snow is finally gone we could clean up the gardens and rake the lawn. Mr. Squish brought out my anarondack chair (1 of 4) and I sat in that and watched him work hehe ;) Our neighbour noticed my lack of work and commented that I was the supervisor. I said “Of course I am”. ;) Mr. Squish worked hard and the yard looks great. Ready for summer that’s for sure!  The dog loved it and I know he’s going stir crazy too.

On Saturday, I’m babysitting my cousins little girl. I am really looking forward to it. I love babies!!! lol Also, Mr. Squish and I are making our nephew his 1st birthday cake. It’s going to be Winnie the Pooh with a little honey pot beside him. I’m really excited. I hope it turns out as cute as I imagine it to be.

It’s been a busy day today at work. I’m exhausted. This new load of responsibilities is keeping me busier then I could have ever imagined. It’s great…but it’s exhausting. Anyway, I’m going to see One More Girl in a small little concert in town on Thursday. It should be really good. Things have been busy in the Squish household but it keeps my mind off my desire of a little Squish :).…well…not really but that’s what I tell myself.

Summer/Fall Plans

Wow it’s been too long since I’ve updated. Spring always means we’re crazy busy, both at home & at work. Working for a Garden Centre means spring is absolutely nuts and so fast paced. I love spring at work with all the flower shipments arriving. It smells & looks so beautiful.  No wonder Mr. Squish and I have such gorgeous gardens. Something arrives at work and I take one home before they’re even priced and put in the greenhouses.

Things have been great for us lately. Mr. Squish & I went on a mini vacation with our best friends the Q’s. It was amazing. We rented this luxury style cottage that over looked one of the Kawartha Lakes. It was fantastic. The food was incredible, although the weather sucked royally. It poured freezing rain on the Saturday and gave one hell of a snow storm on the Sunday before we were checking out. We did adventure out a little bit and got a few beautiful pictures. I would love to go back in the fall sometime. The scenery would be amazing and the pictures we could get would be awesome. It’s quite a bit more money to go in the fall because it’s not the “off season” so I don’t think it’s something we will be doing this year, but maybe next as long as there isn’t a little Squish in the mix :) Although I really hope there is because I’d love no reason more then to not be able to go because we have a new baby.

Speaking of babies, my sister is progressing great. She’s now almost 28 weeks along. I went with her to the 3D ultrasound last weekend. That was pretty incredible. I always thought they were creepy but after seeing my nephew in there, moving all around I’ve changed my mind, it’s not creepy it’s beautiful! I saw him suck his thumb, I couldn’t believe it. He was actually sucking his thumb and playing with his toes. It was...amazing. He’s so cute! I can’t wait to meet him.

Mr. Squish & I have a wedding to attend tomorrow for one of my co-workers. I’m really looking forward to it. I bought this really pretty outfit to wear. My girlfriend is doing my makeup (for free) because she has a spa in her home and is trying to get more clients so she’s asked to do my makeup, complimentary, in exchange for the use of some pictures. I’m down with that! I have an appointment in the afternoon to get my hair done as well. I had it all cut off last weekend and I LOVE IT! It was almost shoulder length and now it’s done in a reverse bob and I love love love it. So happy with it! Now if I could only style it like they do at the salon I’d be even happier! Even though my hairdresser has told me a million times, it never looks as good.

So many things are coming up. Next weekend is my nephew’s birthday and Mr. Squish & I have been asked to make his birthday cake. That’s something we’re both really excited about. We’ve taken to making cakes and we’ve gotten lots of compliments on them. We’re getting more and more requests for cakes and people are willing to pay (which is great). If I knew how to post pictures, I’d post a few of the cakes we’ve made. We’re still learning but it’s a lot of fun in the process. Mr. Squish is better at it then I am because he watched his mom make awesome cakes when he was growing up so he learned well before I did.

Anyway, I’m really excited that Mr. Squish and I have finally made the decision to start going to Church. It’s something we both have wanted for awhile, but we never really pursued looking into which church we’d like to attend. We’ve decided to attend the church we were married in. We’ve met the Reverend before, as he did the pre-marriage counseling sessions for us and we both found him very relatable and very easy to talk to. It’s funny how attending church for the first time makes me very nervous. It’s like going to a new high school, nerve wracking yet comforting at the same time.

I’ve decided to set some goals for this summer/fall season for myself. Kind of like a Summer Bucket List lol
  1. Atttend the Gym at least 4 days a week and try to lose 60 pounds by the end of October.
  2. Start a dog walking clinic with some of our neighbours. Most of our neighbours have a dog(s) and I think it would be a lot of fun to walk the dogs together.
  3. Walk the dog EVERY night (weather permitting of course).
  4. Host friends over for dinner at least twice a month.
  5. Send a random “thinking of you” card to a friend every couple weeks.
  6. Paint the living room, dining room & bathroom as planned.
  7. Go on a picnic & hike at least once a month.
  8. Go out to a movie with Mr. Squish once a month. (Thank you Air Miles coupons!)
  9. Read 35 books. I figure on average I read a book every 3 days so if I give myself a week per book from April-October that should be manageable.
  10. Volunteer with some sort of community outreach program. Our church does a lot of these programs so I think I’ll be looking to do help through them.
So that’s my summer/fall plan. I find it easier to set shorter goals then longer ones. We’ll see how well I do! Bring on Spring baby!
